Win Streak extends to five as Women's Volleyball sweeps Concordia

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Volleyball welcomed Concordia to Mol Arena and extended their win streak to five with a 3-0 sweep of the Cardinals. The Golden Eagle attack was stellar on the night, as they hit .339 for the match behind Aubrey Johnson's 14 kills. The win moves Cornerstone to 15-8 (7-4) on the year as they welcome Siena Heights tomorrow afternoon for a start time of 2 p.m.

First Set: #RV Cornerstone – 25 Concordia - 12
  • Aubrey Lenz opens the first set with back-to-back service aces to give Cornerstone a 2-0 lead.
  • The aces continued for the Golden Eagles as Emmalee Murphy had back-to-back herself to make it 5-2.
  • The Cardinals were forced into their first timeout as Gabby VerBerkmoes had back-to-back kills and a block to make it 8-2.
  • Alli Pickard gave Cornerstone their sixth ace of the set to make it 13-3 Golden Eagles.
  • It continued to be all Golden Eagles in the first set as kills from Kylie Barron and Aubrey Johnson made it a 18-6 Cornerstone lead.
  • Cornerstone finished just how they started, on a high note as they took set one 25-12
 
Second Set: #RV Cornerstone – 25 Concordia - 23
  • The Golden Eagles jumped out to a quick 3-1 as Emmalee Murphy recorded two more service aces.
  • Kylie Barron and Aubrey Johnson have struck gold as their kills made it an 8-5 Golden Eagle lead.
  • Cornerstone and Concordia have kept the second set close as a kill from Macy Ward makes it 12-10 Cornerstone.
  • Concordia took their first lead of the match as four straight Cardinal points made it 14-12.
  • The Cardinals continued to maintain their two-point advantage over the Golden Eagles as a service ace made it 17-15.
  • Kylie Barron keeps the second set close with a kill as Concordia continued to lead 20-18 late.
  • A 3-1 run highlighted by an Aubrey Lenz kill and service aced tied the set at 21.

  • Concordia jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead thanks to a few Golden Eagle errors.
  • The Golden Eagles responded with 4-0 run of their own to tie the set at four.
  • Cornerstone continued to build off their strong run as blocks from Gabby VerBerkmoes and Aubrey Johnson made it a 9-6 Golden Eagle lead.
  • Concordia responded well with a run of their own as they used a couple service aces and a kill to tie the set at 10.
  • After a long back-and-forth rally, the Golden Eagles prevail as Emmalee Murphy finds wood with a tip kill to make it 13-12 Cornerstone.
  • The Golden Eagles forced Concordia into a timeout as kills from Emmalee Murphy and Aubrey Johnson made it 18-15 late.
  • The Golden Eagles attack continued strong as kills from Aubrey Lenz and Lydia Uganski made it 20-15.
  • It's a sweep for Cornerstone as Aubrey Johnson records a kills and a block that gave the Golden Eagles a 25-16 win.
