ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles offense stalled in conference matchup against Rochester Christian. Cornerstone entered the matchup coming off back-to-back four goal games but were unable to find the back of the net against the Warriors. The Golden Eagles outshot Rochester Christian 12-10 in the match and finished the game with only ten players on the field due to a red card given to
Tori Woodwyk. Cornerstone will look to bounce back as they travel on Saturday October 5
th for another conference match against Lourdes at 7 p.m.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 0 Rochester Christian – 1
First Half
- Cornerstone started off the match quickly with a shot by Gracie Gortmaker that was blocked well by Rochester's defense.
- Both teams looked to control the possession early in the match, yet the game remained scoreless after the first 10 minutes.
- Gracie Gortmaker delivered a corner kick to the head of Emily Ake, but her header landed in the hands of the keeper in the 15th minute of the match.
- The Golden Eagles controlled most of the possession in the Warriors defensive half, but the match remained 0-0 in the 33rd minute.
- Cornerstone tallied nine first half shots but were unable to breakthrough as the match was 0-0 at halftime.
Second Half
- Rochester Christian started the second half strong with three shots in the first five minutes of the half.
- The Warriors were able to find the back of the net in the 53rd minute but the goal was offside which kept the match 0-0.
- Rochester Christian's Laila Vanhoorelbeke received the third yellow card of the match for the Warriors in the 63rd minute after a dangerous foul was committed to slow down Cornerstone's attack.
- Kaylah Joyce scored the first goal of the match for the Warriors which gave them the 1-0 lead in the 82nd minute of the match.
- Tori Woodwyk received a red card late in the match which brought the Golden Eagles down to ten players on the field in the 88th minute.
- Cornerstone was unable to find the back of the net which gave Rochester Christian the narrow 1-0 victory.
