Women's Soccer held scoreless in a loss on the road to Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Golden Eagles remained on the road as they took on Lourdes. For the second straight game, women's soccer was unable to score as they fell 1-0. The Golden Eagles had multiple shot opportunities to tie it in the second half but were unable to capitalize as the Gray Wolves held them scoreless. The loss moves Cornerstone to 5-4-2 (3-2-1) on the year as they will remain on the road as they take on UNOH on Saturday, October 12 for a 1 p.m. kickoff.  
 
Game Recap – Lourdes – 1 Cornerstone – 0
 
First Half:
  • The first opportunity of the game came for the Golden Eagles as they had a corner kick in the 5th minute but was stifled by the defense of Lourdes.
  • Lourdes first opportunity of the game came in the 11th minute as their shot was saved by Cornerstone's keeper Morgan Scholten.
  • Gracie Gortmaker had the first shot opportunity for the Golden Eagles as her shot sailed wide of the goal in the 14th minute.
  • The game remained scoreless through the first 30-minutes as there has been three shots combined between both teams.
  • The Golden Eagles had a great opportunity in the 33rd minute by the shot by Jada VanNoord was saved by the Lourdes keeper.
  • Off a free kick in the 40th minute, Lourdes took control of the deflection and took a shot on goal that hit the goal post and in to break the scoreless tie.
  • Lourdes headed into halftime with a 1-0 advantage over the Golden Eagles. They have outshot Cornerstone 3-2 in a defensive ran first half.
Second Half:
  • The Golden Eagles had the first opportunity in the second half as the shot by Gracie Gortmaker was saved by the Gray Wolve's keeper.
  • Lourdes had a free kick opportunity in the 58th minute but the shot hits off the top crossbar and over the goal for a Cornerstone goal kick.
  • Gracie Gortmaker had a great look on goal in the 61st minute but her shot missed just left of the goal.
  • Lourdes continued to hold onto the lead as they had a shot attempt in the 69th minute that sailed high over the goal.
  • The Golden Eagles had a corner kick opportunity in the 75th minute but the defense of the Gray Wolves stopped the Cornerstone attack.
  • Cornerstone remained the aggressors in the final 10-minutes of the game as a shot from Gracie Gortmaker was saved by the Lourdes keeper.
  • Lourdes had corner kick opportunities in the 89th minute where they slowly ran the time down.
  • The Gray Wolves played keep away from the Golden Eagles as Cornerstone falls 1-0.

7 – Both teams had seven shots with Cornerstone having three on goal compared to Lourdes two
