LIVONIA, Mich. – Men's Soccer was faced with a tough matchup in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal as they faced #19 Madonna. Cornerstone was unable to upset the one seed Crusaders in this match as they conceded three first half goals and ultimately were defeated 4-0. The Golden Eagles finished their season with a record of 6-10-1 (5-7).
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 0 #19 Madonna - 4
First Half:
- The first shot of the game was directed at Roberto Gutierrez who made the save in the third minute of the match.
- Cornerstone got their offense forward in the fifth minute of the match with a corner kick and flurry of shots, but the match remained at 0-0.
- Eli Leegwater earned a yellow card after he committed a crucial foul inside the box that gave the Crusaders a penalty kick in the 10th minute that was converted by Ryota Nakajima which gave Madonna the early 1-0 lead.
- Only thirty seconds after the goal Grant Roloff was handed a yellow card which tallied the second card of the game for the Golden Eagles.
- Ryota Nakajima doubled the lead for the Crusaders after he scored his second goal of the game in the 21st minute.
- Jordy Lopez found the back of the net for Madonna as they took a 3-0 lead only 28 minutes into the match.
- The halftime score finished at 3-0 in favor of the Crusaders.
Second Half:
- The second half started with a shot from Tyler Corstange but went just high which kept the match at 3-0.
- Calvin Curtis and Chana Batan both picked up yellow cards early in the second half which reflected the heavily physical match in the win or go home matchup.
- Yan Brun of Madonna found the back of the net again for the Crusaders in the 68th minute of the match which made the score 4-0.
- Pablo Rodriguez looked to find the breakthrough for the Golden Eagles in the 89th minute but was unable as his shot was blocked.
- The match finished at 4-0 which sent Madonna into the WHAC Tournament Semifinal.
