GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles seem to have found and stuck to their current form, both away and at home. The second match of the Tri-Match in Grand Rapids, Michigan is swept by the Golden Eagles as they take the first set 25-22, the second set 25-22, and the third set 25-22, the Golden Eagles extend their unbeaten streak to 6-0. Up next for the Golden Eagles, they will travel to Adrian, Michigan to take on the Siena Heights Saints on Tuesday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Game One Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Campbellsville University – 0 (25-22, 25-22, 26-24)
Set 1
- The first set gets underway with two kills from both teams' outside hitters, for Cornerstone, Ernest Broaster grabs his first of the morning. The set is tied 1-1.
- A few service aces for the Tigers gives them a five-point lead early on 8-3 forcing Cornerstone to use a timeout.
- Campbellsville didn't see Broaster coming from the back row, as he grabs another kill to make set one a bit closer, the Golden Eagles still trail behind 11-7.
- David Galanes and Andrew Galanes watch the Tigers' serve fly out of bounds to inch the Golden Eagles closer to Campbellsville, they still trail 12-11.
- Cornerstone University take their first lead of the set on an attack error from the Tigers, they now lead 14-13.
- Joshua Beaumont and Andrew Galanes put up the block to tie the first set 17-17.
- Cornerstone University, with a block and kill from Joshua Beaumont, gain their largest lead of the first set, going up 22-19.
- The first set ends with a kill off the block from Ernest Broaster, the Golden Eagles win the first set 25-22.
Set 2
- Hubert Sliwinski gets set two started with two of his own kills. Cornerstone leads 2-1.
- A lengthy rally comes to a close with a kill from outside hitter David Galanes. The Golden Eagles trail in the second set 5-4.
- David Galanes ties set two with a service ace. The score is 6-6.
- Ernest Broaster grabs another kill after a fake from Hubert Sliwinski. The second set is tied again 9-9.
- Andrew Galanes gets a kill off the block to give Cornerstone the lead 13-12.
- A backrow attack from Ernest Broaster is key, as the Golden Eagles maintain their lead 16-14.
- A service error from the Tigers pushes Cornerstone in the twenties in set two. The Golden Eagles lead 20-19.
- A David Galanes block bounces back into a Campbellsville player to bring set two to set point. Cornerstone lead 24-21.
- David Galanes smashes the ball into the head of a Campbellsville player and sends it almost out of the arena to end the second set for Cornerstone 25-22.
Set 3
- Galanes with the first kill of the third set, he gives Cornerstone their first point as they trail 2-1.
- Ernest Broaster ties the third set 3-3 with a kill of his own.
- Hubert Sliwinski tips over the block to keep Cornerstone within one point of the Tigers. The Golden Eagles still trail 6-5.
- Patrick Voloch and Joshua Beaumont go up for the block and come back down with a point. The set is tied 9-9.
- Andrew Galanes and Hubert Sliwinski get their own blocks in to tie the set once again 13-13.
- Andrew Galanes keeps the blocks coming to put the Golden Eagles ahead 16-15 in the third set.
- Ernest Broaster takes advantage of the overpass by the Tigers to put Cornerstone up 20-17 late in the third set.
- Hubest Sliwinski grabs another block and kill to force Campbellsville into a timeout. The Golden Eagles still lead 23-21.
- Ernest Broaster tips it over the block to extend Cornerstone to 18-0 in set victories, as the Golden Eagles win the third and final set 25-22.

Ernest Broaster once again gets himself on the board with impressive numbers. With a total of 20 kills off 34 attempts, Broaster hit a .412 on the day.

Patrick Voloch totaled 37 assists, while also having 4 of his own kills off of a couple swings and setter dumps over the net.

Joshua Beaumont was a highlight of the Golden Eagles' defense today. Grabbing 7 block assists to keep the ball on the other side of the net.
