GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – It was a quick road trip for the Golden Eagles, as they traveled to Aquinas and came away with a win 78-75. The Golden Eagles used their strong third quarter, where they outscored the Saints 22-11, proved to be the difference maker in the game for Cornerstone.
Olivia Kubik scored 18 first half points and finished with 21 points to lead the Golden Eagles as
Stephanie Ainsworth chipped in 20 points and 15 rebounds. Women's Basketball moves to 14-12 (12-9) on the year as they face off against Rochester for the final game of the regular season on Saturday, February 24.

- First Quarter
- Aquinas opened the game on a 5-0 run through the first three-minutes.
- Olivia Kubik scored five-straight for the Golden Eagles to tie the game 5-5.
- A couple layups from Stephanie Ainsworth and a three from Olivia Kubik gives the Golden Eagles a 13-9 lead heading into the media timeout.
- Olivia Kubik continued to score for the Golden Eagles as her layup makes it 15-10 with two-minutes to go.
- Another three from Olivia Kubik gave her 13 points in the first quarter as the Golden Eagles lead 18-12 after one.
- Second Quarter
- Alona Blackwell and Olivia Kubik continue to trade baskets for Cornerstone and Aquinas as the Golden Eagles continue to lead 25-17.
- Mackenzie Stien and Jaylee Long make easy layups for Cornerstone as it is 29-19 with six-minutes to go.
- The Saints responded with a 6-0 run to get right back in this game 29-25 heading into the media timeout.
- Another quick run by Aquinas gives them the 33-31 lead with 1:30 remaining in the first half.
- The Saints go into halftime leading the Golden Eagles 36-35.
- Third Quarter
- The Golden Eagles opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run highlighted by a Stephanie Ainsworth layup to give Cornerstone the 42-36 lead.
- Jaylee Long drills the wing three to give the Golden Eagles a 10-point lead, 47-37.
- A 4-0 run highlighted by Jaxi Long and Gracie Gortmaker made it a 51-39 game with three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
- An 8-2 run from the Saints highlighted by multiple Alona Blackwell baskets, made it a 53-47 game with a minute to go.
- Jaxi Long makes a deep three to beat the third quarter buzzer to give Cornerstone a 57-47 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
- Fourth Quarter
- Through the first two-minutes of the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles continued to lead 60-52.
- Alona Blackwell and Olivia Kubik remain the leading scorers for their teams as they both hit a three, but the Golden Eagles remain in the lead 65-55.
- Three straight threes from the Saints cuts into the Golden Eagle lead 69-64 with just under five-minutes to go.
- Maddison Fulks breaks the scoring drought for Cornerstone with a floater in the lane to extend the lead 73-66.
- The Saints made another three and followed that up with a layup to make it a 74-73 game with a minute to go.
- Alona Blackwell missed both of her free throws and Stephanie Ainsworth came down with the rebound. With 17 seconds left, the Golden Eagles lead 77-75.
- Maddison Fulks make a free throw and Stephanie Ainsworth blocks the game tying shot at the buzzer to give the Golden Eagles a 78-75 victory.
