Men's Volleyball makes it 10-straight with a 3-1 victory over Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Trying to make it 10 wins in a row, men's volleyball traveled to Bethel and came away with a four-set victory 19-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15. Bethel came out aggressive, taking control of the match winning the first set. Cornerstone would respond, sweeping the next three sets thanks to hitting .398 and Ernest Broasters 17 kills. The defense of the Golden Eagles also picked up as they recorded 32 digs with nine total blocks. Cornerstone moves to 10-0 (6-0) on the year as they welcome #RV Indiana Tech on Friday, March 1 for a 7 p.m. match time.

  • Set One
    • The Golden Eagles opened the first set on a quick 3-1 run thanks to a service ace from Ernest Broaster.
    • A kill from David Galanes and Joshua Beaumont extends the Cornerstone lead 7-4, still early in the first set.
    • Bethel has rattled off five-straight points to force Cornerstone to call a timeout as they have taken a 12-9 lead.
    • Another small run by Bethel forced Cornerstone to call their final timeout after another service ace makes it 18-12.
    • A 5-2 run by the Golden Eagles makes it a 20-17 game as Cornerstone has taken advantage of Bethels errors.
    • Bethel finished the first set strong, winning 25-19.
  • Set Two
    • Like the first set, Cornerstone opened the second set on a nice little run, leading 4-2 after a block from Hubert Sliwinski and David Galanes.
    • Andrew Galanes gets a couple kills and helps block with Joshua Beaumont as the Golden Eagles continue to lead 8-4.
    • A solo block from Andrew Galanes forces Bethel to call a timeout as the Golden Eagle lead 13-8.
    • Bethel continues to stick around as a kill makes it a 16-13 match.
    • A nice little 4-0 run from the Golden Eagles makes it 21-14 thanks to service aces from David Galanes and kills from Ernest Broaster.
    • Cornerstone closes out the second set strong, winning 25-16 thanks to kills from Joshua Beaumont and Ernest Broaster.
  • Set Three
    • Bethel and Cornerstone traded points to start the third set, thanks to multiple service errors from both teams as it is 5-5.
    • A 4-0 run by the Golden Eagles highlighted by a sneaky Kyi Jagorin kill, gave Cornerstone an 9-5 lead.
    • David Galanes lays the hammer off the set from Ernest Broaster to give Cornerstone the 13-9 lead.
    • Back-to-back attacking errors from the Pilots makes it a 17-10 match, late in the third set.
    • After another error from Bethel, the Golden Eagles are just four points away from a set three victory.
    • Cornerstone finishes the third set winning 25-16, thanks to even more attacking errors from the Pilots.
  • Set Four
    • Bethel jumped out to a 5-3 lead over the Golden Eagles to start the fourth set thanks to a couple kills.
    • A 6-2 run from the Golden Eagles, thanks to kills from Patrick Voloch and Ernest Broaster, gave Cornerstone a 9-7 lead.
    • A 4-0 run by Cornerstone forced Bethel to use one of their timeouts after a Patrick Voloch service ace and a block from Hubert Sliwinski and Andrew Galanes made it 13-9.
    • A 3-0 by Cornerstone made Bethel use their final timeout after David Galanes hit one through the blockers for a kill, making it 16-10.
    • The Golden Eagles are just five points away from a set four victory. They lead 20-13 after a David Galanes kill.
    • Cornerstone wins the fourth set with a service ace from Ernest Broaster, to win the set 25-16.
