GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles dominate at home, taking down the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech in three sets. Cornerstone owns home court, winning set one 25-29, set two 25-17, and set three 26-24. Ernest Broaster led the way for the Golden Eagles with a season high 19 kills as Patrick Voloch had 40 assists. Up next for Cornerstone, the Golden Eagles will travel down the Beltline for their first away match of the season, as they take on Aquinas College on February 13, starting at 7 p.m.

Game One Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Lawrence Tech – 0 (25-19, 25-17, 26-24)

Set 1

• The match is underway with two kills through the block by Ernest Broaster, the score is 2-0.
• Hubert Sliwinski grabs his first kill of the match, followed by a service ace from Ernest Broaster to put the Golden Eagles up 4-1.
• Andrew Galanes swings for the second time in a row and kills through the block to build Cornerstone's lead 5-2 early on in this first set.
• David Galanes's backrow attack and an uncontested kill from Ernest Broaster gave Cornerstone a four-point lead, 11-7.
• Andrew Galanes with a solo block adds to the point deficit for Lawrence Tech. The Golden Eagles go up 15-9, forcing the Blue Devils into the first timeout of the match.
• Ernest Broaster returns to the front row with a bang, grabbing two more kills to keep Cornerstone ahead 20-14.
• Hubert Sliwinski grabs a solo block late in the first set. Cornerstone leads 21-14.
• Some miscommunication by the Blue Devils helps give Kyi Jagorin a service ace. The Golden Eagles own their nest 23-16.

Set 2

• The second set begins with a kill by Lawrence Tech's Akram Askoul, followed by two services errors from both teams to make the score 2-1 Lawrence Tech.
• Andrew Galanes pushes the ball into the block to give Cornerstone University the lead 3-2.
• A group of kills from Joshua Beaumont, Ernest Broaster, and setter Patrick Voloch gave Cornerstone University the lead 8-7 in a highly competitive second set.
• Ernest Broaster grabs another solo block to nudge the Golden Eagles in front 10-9.
• Ernest Broaster puts his team up 17-10 with another service ace.
• David Galanes grabs a kill and Andrew Galanes solo blocks the Blue Devils' attack, adding to Cornerstone's lead 20-12.
• Andrew Galanes takes advantage of the overpass to put Cornerstone within three points of finishing set two. The score is 22-14 Cornerstone.
• The second set ends on a service error by Lawrence Tech's Gustavo Machado. Cornerstone win the second set 25-17.

Set 3

• The Blue Devils kickoff the third set with a couple kills and an attack error by Cornerstone to take the lead 3-0.
• Hubert Sliwinski gets Cornerstone's first kill of set three. The Golden Eagles still trail 3-1.
• Ernest Broaster nets a kill and a service ace back-to-back. Cornerstone closes-in on Lawrence Tech who leads 4-3.
• A kill from Andrew Galanes and a service ace from Kyi Jagorin bring the Golden Eagles within one point of the Blue Devils who still lead 6-5.
• Joshua Beaumont goes up for the attack, and Ernest Broaster comes from the backrow to get the kill and tie the set 9-9.
• A couple kills from the Blue Devils and an attacking error from Cornerstone force the Golden Eagles into their first timeout of the night. Lawrence Tech leads 14-11.
• Ernest Broaster tips the ball over the net and grabs a kill. Cornerstone trail in the third set 18-15.
• Patrick Voloch goes up for the block against Lawrence Tech's Mario Cid and brings Cornerstone within two-points of the Blue Devils who still lead 19-17.
• A kill from Joshua Beaumont keeps the Golden Eagles in the third set. Cornerstone is still behind 21-19.
• Joshua Beaumont with the dig, Patrick Voloch with the set, and Andrew Galanes with the kill. Cornerstone inches closer but still trail 21-20.
