Men's Volleyball opened their road trip with a 3-0 sweep of Lawrence Tech

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Cornerstone hit the road for their first match of an important conference week with a matchup against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. Men's Volleyball came out aggressive and ready to play as they swept the Blue Devils 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23). Ernest Broaster, Andrew Galanes, and David Galanes all led the way with 12 kills as the Golden Eagles hit .410 for the game. Cornerstone moves to 14-2 (10-2) on the year as they will travel to Indiana Tech on Friday, March 29.
 
Game Recap – Cornerstone – 3 Lawrence Tech – 0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23)
 
  • Set One
    • Lawrence Tech earned the first point of the game after a long back-and-forth rally. Ernest Broaster followed that up with a loud kill to make it 1-1.
    • A big block from Joshua Beaumont and Andrew Galanes gave Cornerstone a 3-1 lead in set one.
    • A tip kill from Andrew Galanes and free ball kill from David Galanes forced Lawrence Tech to call a timeout as Cornerstone extended their lead to 9-4.
    • A run from Lawrence Tech slowly cut into the Golden Eagles lead as it is 12-10 CU.
    • Cornerstone answered with a 4-0 run, taking advantage of the Lawrence Tech errors to make it 16-10 in the first set.
    • A David Galanes kill gave Cornerstone a 21-14 lead as they inched closer to a first set victory.
    • Cornerstone finished the first set victorious with a 25-15 win thanks to a kill from Hubert Sliwinski and David Galanes.
  • Set Two
    • Lawrence Tech jumped out to a 4-2 lead in set two in part to a few Golden Eagles errors.
    • A Hubert Sliwinski kill and a Kyi Jagorin service ace saw CU right back in the set as it is now 7-6.
    • Cornerstone used a 7-2 run to take a 13-10 advantage over Lawrence Tech that was highlighted by a Joshua Beaumont service ace.
    • A big block by Joshua Beaumont and Ernest Broaster led to a service ace from Kyi Jagorin that gave Cornerstone a 19-14 lead late in the second set.
    • Cornerstone finished the second set strong, winning 25-17 thanks to loud kills from Ernest Broaster and Joshua Beaumont.
  • Set Three
    • Lawrence Tech opened the third set on a 3-1 run with a couple kills.
    • A 3-1 run from the Golden Eagles tied it 4-4 after a few Blue Devil mistakes.
    • The Blue Devils continued to take advantage of the Golden Eagle free ball as they lead 12-9.
    • A run from Cornerstone saw them tie the game at 14 after a David Galanes kill.
    • Cornerstone took their first lead in the third set 17-16 thanks to a big double block from Ernest Broaster and Joshua Beaumont.
    • Lawrence Tech blocked a Cornerstone attack that gave them a 21-20 lead late in the third set.
    • Lawrence Tech was forced to a call a timeout as a block from Hubert Sliwinski and Patrick Voloch made it a 23-21 match in the third set.
    • Cormerstone finished the sweep of Lawrence Tech on an Ernest Broaster kill, winning the third set 25-23.
