Cornerstone Athletics is excited to announce the opening of multiple graduate assistant positions

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone Athletics is excited to announce the opening of 14 graduate-assistant positions in the athletic department starting this upcoming school year. The original positions included are Athletic Events and Facilities Graduate Assistant and Athletics Communication and Marketing Graduate Assistant.
 
In addition to the ones already in place, the new graduate-assistant positions are Athletics Operations, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Volleyball, Track and Field/Cross Country (2), Wrestling, Baseball, and Softball.
 
"I am ecstatic to be able to add value to how we support our student athletes and various teams here at Cornerstone, said Director of Athletics Aaron Sagraves. The roles of coaching and administration have changed so much over the last 5-10 years and to be able to add another staff member for certain programs as well as administrative help will allow us to provide a better student athlete experience."

Graduate-Assistant General Descriptions
 
Athletic Events and Facilities
The individual in this position will represent Cornerstone University hospitably and with excellence by coordinating with the 20 athletic programs and supporting event and facility operations. They will also aid the department in supervising of student workers.
 
Athletics Communication and Marketing
The individual in this position represents Cornerstone University with hospitality and excellence by assisting with the coordination with the 20 athletic programs in communication, media, and public relations. They will aid the Director of Communications with overall promotion of the department's goals.
 
Athletics Operations
The individual in this position represents Cornerstone University with hospitality and excellence by coordinating with the 20 athletic programs, in communication, media and public relations. They will aid the Assistant AD for Facilities, the Coordinator of Communication, and Gameday Operations Manager for the overall promotion of the department's goals.
 
Men's Basketball
The individual in this position will support the head coach in duties pertaining to the team and program. The candidate will serve the players of the Cornerstone University Men's Basketball program while acting in accordance with the mission of the university.
 
Women's Basketball
The responsibility of the Graduate Assistant for Women's Basketball is to assist the Head Coach and her staff in various aspects of administration involving the Women's Basketball Program.
 
Men's Soccer
The individual in this position is responsible for assisting with the Cornerstone University Men's Soccer program, including but not limited to coaching team members, organizing, recruiting, scheduling, training, monitoring academic progress, promotions, and fundraising.
 
Women's Soccer
The individual in this position is responsible for assisting in some aspects of the Cornerstone University Women's Soccer program. This may include but is not limited to recruiting, scheduling, training, monitoring academic progress, fundraising and coaching team members. This position will support the head coach in the operation of the program.
 
Track and Field/Cross Country
The position of Graduate Assistant Coach reports to the head coach of Cross Country and Track & Field and is responsible for assisting in some areas of the program(s). Typical duties may include but are not limited to: coaching and recruiting student-athletes, practice planning, monitoring student academic progress and time commitments, camp development, coordinating community engagement opportunities, game/meet management and travel responsibilities, practice scheduling and supervising, and other related duties as assigned.
 
Men's Volleyball
The individual in this position will support the head coach in duties pertaining to the team and program. The candidate will serve the players of the Cornerstone University Men's Volleyball program while acting in accordance with the mission of the university.
 
Women's Volleyball
Women's Volleyball will have a graduate assistant, but will be posted at a later date. Stay tuned for an update.
 
Baseball
The individual will carry out all aspects of the program necessary to accomplish the objectives of the sport within the university, the athletic department, WHAC, and NAIA contexts. The graduate-assistant will also help out in conducting team practices, travel arrangements, special training, and recruiting of highly skilled student-athletes
 
Softball
Under the supervision of the women's softball coach, the graduate assistant will perform duties related to the functioning of the team and program, support the head coach in requested tasks, help with practice and game day management, recruit student-athletes, and offer technical assistance in relation to the sport.
 
Wrestling
Cornerstone University invites applications for the position of Men's Wrestling Graduate Assistant. The successful candidate will be actively involved in recruitment, retention, and day-to-day operations of the Cornerstone University wrestling program. Cornerstone is a member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and the NAIA.
