Men's Volleyball earns numerous honors in the WHAC Awards

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In their fourth season of competition, Men's Volleyball finished the regular season with their best season yet and came away with numerous top 2024 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic (WHAC) end of year awards. Highlighting the honors for the Golden Eagles are Ernest Broaster earning Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference. Kyi Jagorin earning Libero of the Year and First Team All-Conference. Patrick Voloch earning Setter of the Year and First Team All-Conference. Joshua Beaumont and David Galanes earning Second Team All-Conference. Josiah Reif earning WHAC Champion of Character and Coach Alex Bahn earning Coach of the Year.
 
Ernest Broaster – JR – Newcomer of the Year & First Team All-Conference
Junior transfer Ernest Broaster in his first year at Cornerstone came away with Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors after compiling a team high 360 kills which is best for sixth in the nation while doing it at 4.39 kills per set, best for second in the nation. He has a hitting percentage of .359 and third on the team in blocks with 58 total. In his first year, Broaster has made a huge difference to help Cornerstone to their first ever top 15 national ranking.
 
Kyi Jagorin – SR – Libero of the Year & First Team All-Conference
Senior Kyi Jagorin has earned Libero of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors while leading the backline of the defense for the Golden Eagles. Jagorin leads the team in digs with 225 on the year, which ranks him 22nd in the nation also good for 2.68 digs per-set. He also collected 43 assists and 22 service aces.
 
Patrick Voloch – JR – Setter of the Year & First Team All-Conference
Junior Patrick Voloch has earned Setter of the Year and his second straight First Team All-Conference honors. Voloch surpassed 3,000 career assists earlier this year while leading the team with 905, which is seventh best in the nation at 10.28 assists per-set which is third in the nation. He also has 162 digs, 55 total blocks, 40 service aces, and 39 kills. Doing a little bit of everything as the setter for the Golden Eagles.
 
Joshua Beaumont – JR – Second Team All-Conference
Junior Joshua Beaumont has earned his first ever WHAC All-Conference honor, earning Second Team All-Conference. The middle totaled 109 kills on the year, hitting at .400 which leads the team. Beaumont also leads the team in total blocks with 79 coming in at an impressive 1.04 blocks per-set number. He has been the leader in the front row all year for the Golden Eagles.
 
David Galanes – SR – Second Team All-Conference
David Galanes has earned his third straight WHAC All-Conference honor, earning Second Team All-Conference. Galanes is second on the team with 241 kills, good for 3.01 kills per-set. He is hitting at a .270 rate and has also tallied 31 service aces and total blocks. David was the first men's volleyball player to surpass 1,000 career kills as he did so earlier this season. The senior continues to be a presence on the floor night in and out.
 
Coach Alex Bahn – Coach of the Year
Alex Bahn has earned his first Coach of the Year honor after leading the Golden Eagles to a 21-4 regular season, the best season in the programs young four-year career. He also led them to their first top 15 ranking, coming in at #13 earlier this season. Cornerstone clinched their first ever two-seed, earning the first-round bye in the WHAC Tournament.
 
Josiah Reif – FR – WHAC Champion of Character
The WHAC Champions of Character award is given to one player from each team and is selected by each coaching staff. Josiah Reif was selected as Cornerstone's representative to the WHAC Champions of Character team by the CU staff for best representing the five NAIA core character traits of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
 
WHAC All-Academic Team
Cornerstone saw nine athletes earn WHAC All-Academic honors in 2024. This award is given to any athlete who has been on the roster for a year or more as a sophomore and above in academic class standing with a GPA of 3.25 or higher. The winners are Joshua Beaumont, Jackson Bush, Andrew Galanes, David Galanes, Max Hernandez, Brunno Peres, Hubert Sliwinski, Patrick Voloch, and Landon Waltz.

Men's Volleyball takes on Indiana Tech tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. for a shot to make their first WHAC Tournament Championship in program history.
