FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On the final day of the regular season, baseball squared off with Indiana Tech for another double header, looking to rebound off the two losses yesterday afternoon. Indiana Tech came out hot, taking down Cornerstone in a blowout fashion, 19-4 to start off the day. In game two,
Matthew Kindley was the bright spot on offense hitting two homeruns, but the Golden Eagles couldn't do much more as they fall 7-3. With those two losses, Cornerstone drops to 19-30 on the year as they will wait and see if they play in the WHAC Tournament next week as WHAC games conclude this weekend.
Game One Highlights – Indiana Tech – 19 Cornerstone – 4
- With two outs, Matthew Kindley hit a single and Drew Goodman followed that with a double to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
- Indiana Tech would tie the game in the bottom of the first thanks to two doubles to make it 1-1. A few errors by the Golden Eagles helped Indiana Tech to a few more runs as they now lead 4-1. A homerun highlighted the six run first inning for Indiana Tech as it is 6-1 heading into the second.
- JC Salinas opened the second inning with a solo homerun to make it 6-2.
- With two outs, Indiana Tech would tack on another with a single into left field to extend their lead 7-2 in the third inning.
- Indiana Tech opened the fourth inning with a solo homerun to center field to make it 8-2. The Warriors would load the bases with one out as a single, hit by pitch, and a sac fly gave them a 12-2 lead over Cornerstone.
- A two-out rally by the Golden Eagles was highlighted by a Matthew Kindley RBI double to make it a 12-4 game in the fifth inning.
- Indiana Tech put up another crooked number, this time a seven-run inning highlighted by a three-run homerun gave the Warriors a 19-4 lead in the fifth.
- The Golden Eagles left the bases loaded in the top of the sixth as it remains 19-4.
- Matthew Kindley opened the seventh inning with a double but was stranded on second as Cornerstone falls in game one 19-4.
Game Two Highlights – Indiana Tech – 7 Cornerstone – 3
- Matthew Kindley got the scoring started in the first inning with a homerun to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead.
- Indiana Tech would answer in the bottom of the first scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead over the Golden Eagles.
- Daniel Freeman would tie the game in the top of the second on an RBI groundout to make it 2-2.
- Indiana Tech hit a homerun with one out in the bottom of the second to retake the lead 3-2 over Cornerstone. They would add one more on a single to make it 4-2.
- Matthew Kindley hit his second homerun of the game, another solo shot to make it 4-3 in the third inning.
- Another homerun for Indiana Tech puts them up 5-3 in the fourth inning.
- A double steal in the bottom of the sixth for Indiana Tech sees them score one more to extend their lead 6-3.
- Not a lot going for the Golden Eagle offense as they fall in game two, 7-3.
