CHICAGO, Ill. – Cornerstone not only battled it out with #7 in the country Saint Xavier University, but also had a four-set matchup against Viterbo University earlier in the day. Cornerstone was able to take down the Viterbo V-Hawks in four sets, which was highlighted by 13 service aces in total, with seven of those coming just from set four. The Golden Eagles took set one confidently 25-10 but fell short in set two as the V-Hawks won 25-21, while Cornerstone was hitting at just .208 that set. Cornerstone was able to seal set three and four away 28-26 and 25-15 and take the match 3-1. Cornerstone's day was not yet over, as they set off to face #7 in the country Saint Xavier. The match started positively for the Golden Eagles, as, with the help of 5 service aces, they took set one 25-21. But not being able to hit above .111 for the rest of the match, the Cougars took the next three sets 25-14, 25-17, and 25-19, taking down Cornerstone 3-1. During the match,
David Galanes reached 1,000 career kills, the first in men's volleyball program history. Up next for Cornerstone University, the Golden Eagles will return home 18-4 on the year and will face off against Siene Heights University (11-11) on Tuesday April 9, at 7 p.m. EST.
