Men's Volleyballs final home match ends in a sweep of Siena Heights

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Volleyball welcomed Siena Heights for their final home match of the regular season and came away with a 3-0 sweep 25-18, 25-20, 25-19. It was not the best hitting night for the Golden Eagles, hitting just .338, but having nine service aces and 12 total blocks was the difference maker in this one. Ernest Broaster led the way with 14 kills and four services to help Cornerstone improve to 19-4 (13-3) on the year. Volleyball ends their regular season with two matches against Mount Vernon, the first one coming on Friday, April 12 starting at 7 p.m.

  • Set One
    • Set one kicked off with Siena Heights outscoring the Golden Eagles 4-2.
    • Six straight points by the Golden Eagles forced Siena Heights into a timeout as they have taken a 10-6 lead. David Galanes has back-to-back service aces.
    • Cornerstone has not been able to serve well in set one, having an error in three straight serves as Siena is sticking around. CU leads 15-14.
    • A Patrick Voloch service ace forced Siena Heights into their final timeout as Cornerstone leads 21-17.
    • Ernest Broaster had back-to-back service aces as the Golden Eagles closed out the first set on a 4-0 run, winning 25-18.
  • Set Two
    • Back-to-back blocks from Hubert Sliwinski and Patrick Voloch sees Cornerstone lead 6-3 to start the second set.
    • Another service ace by the Golden Eagles, this time by Hubert Sliwinski gave Cornerstone a 10-5 lead.
    • Ernest Broaster's kill gave Cornerstone a 16-9 lead late in the second set.
    • A 6-3 run from Siena Heights cuts into the Golden Eagles lead as it is now19-15.
    • Back-to-back blocks from the Golden Eagles and a kill from Ethan Walker makes it a 23-16 match.
    • Hubert Sliwinski had the final kill as Cornerstone won set two 25-20.
  • Set Three
    • The Golden Eagles opened the third set on a 7-1 run thanks to multiple kills from David Galanes.
    • A block from Ethan Walker and Patrick Voloch gave Cornerstone a 13-7 lead.
    • A 6-1 run from Siena Heights makes it a close 14-13 third set.
    • The Golden Eagles responded with a 4-0 run that forced Siena into a timeout as they have extended their lead 18-13.
    • David Galanes puts the Golden Eagles four points away from a third set victory.
    • The Golden Eagles sweep the Saints, winning the third set 25-19.
