GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Softball had a quick turnaround after playing over the weekend with a makeup double header against Rochester Christian. Cornerstone used a big four-run inning in the first game to win 5-1 as
McKenna Gilde went the distance pitching seven one-run innings. In game two,
Dylan Holmes drove in three runs to help Cornerstone power past Rochester 5-3 to sweep the double header. Cornerstone moves to 17-15 (5-5) on the year as they will remain in Grand Rapids as they take on Aquinas on Wednesday, April 10 starting at 3:30 p.m.
Game One Highlights – Cornerstone – 5 Rochester Christian - 1
- Moriah Sprague hit a single into left field for the first hit of the game but was stranded at second after the first inning.
- McKenna Gilde has shut down the offense of the Warriors as she is through three scoreless innings.
- After a hit by pitch and a walk, Sydney Tilma came through with an RBI single into left field to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead. Anna Griffioen would follow that up with an RBI double into left center field to make it 2-0. A squeeze bunt from Taylor Zwagerman brought in two more as the Golden Eagles have put up four runs in the third.

- Moriah Sprague extended Cornerstones lead with an RBI double down the left field line to make it 5-0.
- McKenna Gilde shuts the door on game one, going the distance to help Cornerstone win 5-1.
Game Two Highlights – Cornerstone – 5 Rochester Christian - 3
- Three straight singles by the Warriors leaves the bases loaded with one out in the top of the first. They would score on an error by the Golden Eagles to take a 1-0 lead. Rochester would score one more on a squeeze bunt to make it 2-0.
- Rochester has shut down the bats of the Golden Eagles as they continue to lead 2-0 after the third inning.
- A Moriah Sprague double gave Cornerstone runners on second and third with one out. Anna Griffioen would bring a run home on a sac bunt to make it 2-1. Dylan Holmes would follow that up with her first homerun of the year, hitting it our over the right center fence to take a 3-2 lead over the Warriors in the fourth.
- Alyssa Braam worked around a second and third two out jam, striking out the Warrior batter to keep the Golden Eagles in the lead after the top of the fifth.
- Rochester would tie the game 3-3 in the top of the sixth with a solo homerun over the left field fence.
- Dylan Holmes would bring home the lead run with a sac fly to help Cornerstone to a 4-3 advantage in the bottom of the sixth. Sydney Tilma would bring home an insurance run with an RBI single to make it 5-3.
- Morgan Jenkins makes a diving catch in left field in the seventh inning to help Cornerstone to a 5-3 victory.
