SYLVANIA, Ohio – The postseason has finally arrived for Softball as they take on the two seed UNOH Racers in the first round of the WHAC Tournament. It was not the first game that the Golden Eagles were expecting as a few missed plays on defense led to easy runs for UNOH. They also struggled on offense, getting no hit by the Racers in an 8-0 loss. In a win or go home situation, Softball faced off against Lawrence Tech in the loser's bracket. Cornerstone struck first with a two-run homerun in the first off the bat of
Alexis Ashbay as that would pave way to a 10-0 victory for the Golden Eagles. Softball advances to the second day of the WHAC Tournament as they will face off against Concordia starting at 12 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
Game One Highlights –UNOH – 8 Cornerstone – 0
- Two straight singles with one out gave UNOH runners on first and third. The Golden Eagles would get one more out, but an error gave UNOH the first run of the game as they took a 1-0 lead. The Racers would follow that up with a double to make it 3-0 as Cornerstone would have trouble again in the field with another error that would allow another run to score as they trail 4-0 after the second inning.
- UNOH leads 4-0 after the third inning as Cornerstone has yet to record a hit.
- After two free bases, UNOH would come through with a bases clearing double to extend their lead 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Another double would score another run as it is now 7-0 headed into the fifth.
- A two out walk was all that Cornerstone could muster in the top of the fifth.
- Three straight singles led to another run for UNOH as they would run rule and no hit the Golden Eagles in an 8-0 victory.
Game Two Highlights – Cornerstone – 10 Lawrence Tech - 0
- Moriah Sprague would reach base on a single with two outs for the Golden Eagles as Alexis Ashbay would follow her with a two-run homerun to give Cornerstone a 2-0 lead.
- Cornerstone continues to lead 2-0 after the third inning as Alyssa Braam is shut down the Blue Devil bats in order.
- With one out, Taylor Zwagerman would bring home a run with a single into right center to make it 3-0. Cornerstone would add two more on an error to take a 5-0 lead heading into the fifth inning.
- Delaney Wilson opened the sixth with a walk and then three straight Golden Eagles singles makes it a 7-0 game with no one out. A couple batters later, Alayna Meade would clear the bases with a double to make it 10-0 headed into the bottom of the sixth.
- Alyssa Braam would complete the one hit shutout as Cornerstone beats Lawrence Tech 10-0
