PARKVILLE, Mo. – Women's Volleyball opened their season in Parkville, Missouri to take on #RV Saint Ambrose and they came away with an impressive 3-0 sweep 25-15, 25-17, 25-18. The Aubrey duo of
Aubrey Lenz and
Aubrey Johnson led the way for the Golden Eagles as Lenz recorded 24 assists and Johnson recording eight kills and 10 digs in the victory. Cornerstone also held Saint Ambrose to a hitting percentage of .011 in the match to improve to 1-0 on the year. Cornerstone will be right back in action tomorrow as they take on Wayland Baptist at 11 a.m. and #8 Park at 5 p.m.

Set One: Cornerstone – 25 Saint Ambrose - 15
- The first point of the 2024 season belongs to Aubrey Lenz as she records an ace to get the season underway.
- Cornerstone opened the first set on a 5-2 run thanks to the first kill of the year by Jada Thomas and a service ace by Aubrey Johnson.
- The Golden Eagles continued to take advantage of the errors by Saint Ambrose as they now lead 10-6.
- Back-to-back kills from Aubrey Johnson and Kylie Barron forced Saint Ambrose into a timeout as it is now 13-6 Cornerstone.
- Saint Ambrose used a small run to cut into the lead of the Golden Eagles as it is now 17-13 late in the first half.
- Cornerstone responded with three straight points and a kill from Kylie Barron to make it 20-13.
- The Golden Eagles would close out the first set with five straight points thanks to three kills, highlighted by a service ace from Olivia Endris to take set one 25-15
Set Two: Cornerstone – 25 Saint Ambrose – 17
- Cornerstone and Saint Ambrose battled back and forth to open the second set as it is tied 3-3 after an error from Saint Ambrose.
- The Golden Eagles would use a 4-1 run to take a 7-4 lead over the Fighting Bees after a block from Aubrey Lenz and Kylie Barron.
- A big 4-0 run by the Golden Eagles extended their lead 14-8 in the second set thanks to four straight errors, two of them blocks by Gabby VerBerkmoes, Jada Thomas, and Emmalee Murphy.
- Another 5-1 run by Cornerstone sees them lead 20-11 after a kill from Aubrey Lenz and Aubrey Johnson.
- The Golden Eagles would finish the second set strong. They would take it by a score of 25-17.
Set Three: Cornerstone – 25 Saint Ambrose – 18
- Cornerstone opened the third set a 5-2 run thanks to a service ace from Payton Hutchinson and back-to-back kills from Gabby VerBerkmoes.
- The runs continued for the Golden Eagles as a 6-0 run sees them extend their lead 13-5 after two service aces from Emma Whitley.
- Gabby VerBerkmoes records another kill in the set as Cornerstone leads late 17-12.
- A kill from Kylie Barron and Emmalee Murphy sees the Golden Eagles two points away from a third set victory.
- Aubrey Johnson shuts the door on the first match of the year with a big kill to give Cornerstone a third set 25-18 victory.
