GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Volleyball continues conference play this week with back-to-back home matchups against Defiance and Lourdes. The Golden Eagles first face off against Defiance on Friday, September 20 before facing UNOH on Saturday, September 21 to round out their week of matches.

Last Week Recap
The Golden Eagles struggled this past week with two losses to conference opponents. Women's Volleyball opened conference play facing Indiana Tech falling 3-1. This matchup started with a thrilling set that took 31 points to decide but went in favor of Indiana Tech. The Golden Eagles then headed to Ohio to take on UNOH in a five-set battle.
Emmalee Murphy led the match with 19 kills, but Cornerstone could not find a way to win falling 3-2 in the match. The Golden Eagles will head into this week's matchups with a record of 7-5.
Scouting Defiance
Defiance comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with a 7-7 record. Their last three matches have all come against conference opponents losing to Indiana Tech and Lawrence Tech but sweeping Rochester Christian to give them a 1-2 record from conference play so far this season. The Yellow Jackets average 13.15 digs per-set as well as 1.67 blocks per-set. Jamia Murray and Gabby Rodriguez lead the team in kills both tallying over 120 on the season to give Defiance a solid dual threat at the net.
Scouting Lourdes
Lourdes comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 4-7. Lourdes will take on a tough Aquinas team before their matchup against Cornerstone this weekend as they will look to get a boost heading into this conference matchup against the Golden Eagles. The Grey Wolves are averaging 15.4 digs per-set as well as 1.2 blocks per set this season. They are being led by Kylee McBride and her 201 kills on the year.
