Women’s Soccer draws 1-1 against Indiana Tech in a competitive conference matchup

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles battled to a draw against WHAC opponent Indiana Tech. This matchup was more one sided than the scoreline reflects as Cornerstone tallied 10 more shots than Indiana Tech throughout the match. Tori Woodwyk was the goal scorer for the Golden Eagles as she converted from the penalty spot to equalize the match. The Golden Eagles will continue their WHAC play as they will head to Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday September 25^th for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 1 Indiana Tech – 1

First Half

The Golden Eagles came out quickly with a shot from Gracie Gortmaker in the first minute of the match but missed just left.
Cornerstone dominated the first 10 minutes of the match but a counterattack goal from Indiana Tech gave them the early 1-0 lead.
The Golden Eagles tallied six corner kicks in the first 30 minutes of the match but still the game stayed at 1-0.
Cornerstone led the half out-shooting the Warriors 7-2 yet the scoreline remained 1-0 in favor of Indiana Tech at halftime.

Second Half

The Golden Eagles came out with intensity early in the second half with complete control of the ball.
Tori Woodwyk converted from the penalty spot with a clutch shot low left past the keeper which tied the match at 1-1.
The Warriors looked to find another lead just after Cornerstone equalized with a shot from Nin Way but missed just left.
Morgan Scholten made a critical save as she was faced with a one on one in the 69^th minute that kept the game level.
Cornerstone pushed for the winning goal but was never able to break through the Indiana Tech defense.
The match finished with a scoreline of 1-1.
