GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Basketball returned home for the first time in 2025 to host a middle of the pack Concordia team and came away with a tough loss 84-69. Concordia was hungry from the get-go, outscoring the Golden Eagles 21-4 through the first eight minutes, a game in which they never trailed.

Mackenzie Goodwin were the spark on offense for the Golden Eagles with 20 and 18 points for the game. The loss moves Cornerstone to 8-10 (7-3) on the season as they are set to host UNOH on Saturday, January 15.
Game Recap: Concordia – 84 Cornerstone - 69
First Quarter – Concordia – 21 Cornerstone – 7
- Concordia used the first minute of the game to take a quick 5-0 lead over the Golden Eagles.
- It continued to be all Concordia to start this game as they have come out of the gate aggressive as they lead 14-2 over Cornerstone through the first three minutes.
- The Cardinals continued to dominate the first quarter as free throws from Emma Costen made it a 21-4 game.
- The Golden Eagles score the final three points of the quarter but find themselves down 21-7 after the first.
Second Quarter – Concordia – 38 Cornerstone – 25
- The Golden Eagles found some early life to start the second quarter as their 6-2 run, thanks to baskets from Laura Innerebner and Mackenzie Goodwin, made it a 22-13 game.
- Jaxi Long finished through contact as her layup made it a 26-19 game as five minutes remain in the second quarter.
- After a layup from Stephanie Ainsworth, the Cardinals would respond with a 7-0 run to re-extend their lead to 15, 36-21.
- Olivia Kubik made a pair of free throws before the halftime buzzer sounds but the Golden Eagles have struggled offensively as they have shot just 37% from the floor with zero made threes.
Third Quarter – Concordia – 63 Cornerstone - 47
- Jaylee Long made the first three of the game for the Golden Eagles to kick start the third quarter to make it a 38-28 game.
- Right after the three, Concordia went on a 9-1 run to extend their lead 47-29 as seven minutes remain in the third.
- The offense of both sides has gone on a fast pace as both teams scored in three consecutive possessions, but Concordia still leads 56-37.
- Concordia still holds onto a strong lead at the end of the third quarter 63-47.
Fourth Quarter – Concordia – 84 Cornerstone – 69
- Cornerstone and Concordia opened the final quarter with multiple baskets as back-to-back layups from Mackenzie Goodwin made it a 67-53 game.
- It continued to be back-and-forth as a jumper from Jaxi Long made it 70-61 as five minutes remain in the fourth.
- A 6-0 run by the Cardinals may just be the dagger needed for them as that run extended their lead back to double-figures, 78-63 as just under three minutes remain.
- The Golden Eagles sent Concordia to line in the final two minutes of the game to slow it down, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals dominated from start to finish in a 84-69 loss.
