SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The winter matchups continue for the Golden Eagles as they traveled to Southfield, Michigan to take on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. The game was tight for most of the night before a big fourth quarter by the Golden Eagles saw them take a victory 63-51. The Golden Eagles kept the game close all night thanks to 22 points from Mackenzie Goodwin and Jaxi Long's 16 points. Women's Basketball advances to 8-8 (7-1) on the year as they will look forward to their next conference matchup against Seina Heights on Saturday, January 11.

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 63 Lawrence Tech - 51

First Quarter – Lawrence Tech – 14 Cornerstone – 8

• The first four minutes are relatively quiet for both sides, as Lawrence Tech holds the lead 5-2 early in the first quarter of play.
• Lawrence Tech holds the lead in the first quarter with four minutes and forty-six seconds left to play, 6-4. Neither team being able to get a three-point attempt to drop.
• Jaxi Long breaks the 5-0 Lawrence Tech run with a layup to try and minimize the gap. The score is 11-6, the Blue Devils still in the lead in quarter one.
• A transition foul by Mackenzie Goodwin sends the Blue Devils to the free-throw line for the fifth time on the night. Both free-throws fall for Lawrence Tech to bring their lead 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Second Quarter – Lawrence Tech – 28 Cornerstone – 23

• The second quarter silence is broken by a successful three-pointer by Olivia Kubik. Making the score 14-11, Lawrence Tech still holds the lead.
• A foul on Jaxi Long sends her to the line for a couple free-throw opportunities. She makes to make it a 17-15 Blue Devil lead.
• Five and a half minutes to play in the second quarter and the Blue Devils still hold the lead 19-17, as Cornerstone sees Mackenzie Goodwin head to the line and make both of her free-throws.
• The pull-up jumper from Jaxi Long brings Cornerstone within two points of Lawrence Tech, who still are ahead 21-19 in the second quarter.
• The three-pointer from Mackenzie Goodwin falls to keep the score in the second quarter close. The Golden Eagles still trail 28-23 at the end of the first half.

Third Quarter – Lawrence Tech – 38 Cornerstone –38

• Jaxi Long makes it a three-point game with a floater to start the third quarter. The Golden Eagles still trail the Blue Devils 28-25.
• Maddie Schuur and Emma Costen both make their layups to bring Cornerstone within one point of Lawrence Tech. The score in the third quarter is 32-31.
• With one minute and four seconds to go in the third quarter, Emma Costen makes another layup to keep Cornerstone in this game. The Blue Devils are hanging onto their lead 36-35.
• Jaxi Long from the three-point line ties up the game with eight seconds left on the clock, bringing the score at the end of the third quarter 38-38.

Fourth Quarter – Lawrence Tech – 51 Cornerstone – 63

• The Golden Eagles take the lead for the first time on the night with a good layup from Emma Costen. Cornerstone now leads in the fourth quarter 40-38.
• Olivia Kubik makes her three-point attempt to keep the Golden Eagles ahead of the Blue Devils 43-40.
• Emma Costen keeps making her layups to help Cornerstone maintain their three-point advantage 45-42.
• Another successful three-point shot and a tough layup from Jaxi Long gives Cornerstone their largest lead of the night 51-46 with two minutes and fifty seconds left to play.
• Mackenzie Goodwin makes two layups in a row to keep the lead for the Golden Eagles 55-48.
• A foul on Mackenzie Goodwin sends her to the free-throw line, where she makes both shots. She follows those up with another layup to give Cornerstone a ten-point lead with forty seconds left to play 59-49.
• Mackenzie Goodwin heads to the line once again for Cornerstone, where she makes two more free-throws. She scores 22 points on the night and Cornerstone wins the match 63-51 in Southfield, Mich.
