Fort Wayne, Ind. – Women's Basketball continued the Cougar Classic with a match against the host team #8 Saint Francis University. The first quarter saw the top ten ranked Cougars start their commanding lead as it ended in the first 28-10. Cornerstone were unable to get things going in the next two quarters as the third quarter saw Saint Francis hold a 44 point lead 73-29. The Golden Eagles would get some offense going in the final quarter but ultimately could not find a way back into this contest as Cornerstone took the loss 91-45 on the road. Cornerstone will look forward to their home opener against the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan on November 7 at 6 p.m. inside of the Mol Arena.

First Quarter

The Cougars were hot from the get go, scoring seven points from the field to Cornerstone's two successful free throws from Jaxi Long. Saint Francis led 7-2.

#8 Saint Francis took it to the Golden Eagles in the first quarter as they made it to an 18 point lead 26-8.

A successful jump shot from Jaxi Long kept the deficit at 18 at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Eagles were trailing 28-10.

Second Quarter

Kaila Aston got the first points for Cornerstone in the second quarter with a good layup. The Cougars still led 30-12.

Another long run of 10 points for Saint Francis saw their lead grow to 28 points 40-12.

Abby Hall made a three pointer at the end of the second quarter, but the #8 Cougars still maintained their advantage 52-19 to end the first half of play.

Third Quarter

The third quarter was marked by another 10 point run by the Cougars, as they held a strong lead 64-21.

Jaxi Long broke the Cougar streak with a 2 point attempt from the field to cut the Cougar lead down to 41 points.

A good layup by Laura Innerebner brought Cornerstone within 37 points of Saint Francis; they were still behind 64-27.

The third quarter would end 73-29 in the Cougars' favor as they had a strong grasp on the game with a 44 point lead.

Fourth Quarter

Cornerstone were able to come out in the fourth quarter with a good jump shot by Kaila Aston. Cornerstone were still behind 73-31.

Kennedy Matheny saw her three point shot fall with just under four minutes to play, but the Cougar lead was all too great 83-39.

The Golden Eagles would fail to work their way back into the contest as they fell to #8 Saint Francis University 91-45.
By the Numbers
11 – Julie Ashbaugh led her team in total points at 11 with three rebounds and a 50% free throw percentage.
7/23 – Cornerstone was only able to score seven points in total off turnovers, while Saint Francis was able to net 23.
46 – The Golden Eagles unfortunately lost in this tough game as the Cougar held a 46 point lead at the end of regulation.
