Women's Volleyball Sweeps Michigan-Dearborn for their Fifth Sweep in a Row

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Women's Volleyball defeated Michigan-Dearborn to collect their fifth straight sweep! Gabby VerBerkmoes had 10 kills and added five blocks. Aubrey Johnson picked up three service aces and tallied nine kills. Payton Hutchinson helped guide the CU attack recording 24 assists on the night. Women's Volleyball closes out the regular season at Madonna on Saturday, November 8th with game time set for 12 p.m.

Game Recap – Cornerstone – 3 Michigan-Dearborn – 0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-19)

First Set: Cornerstone – 25 Michigan-Dearborn – 15

The Golden Eagles started off the match with three straight points with kills by Aubrey Johnson and Josilyn Potter along with a service ace from Gianna Warwick.
Josilyn Potter picked up two more kills making 11-7 CU.
Two service aces by Josilyn Potter and a pair of kills from Gabby VerBerkmoes extended the Golden Eagles lead to 20-12.
Kills from the VerBerkmoes sisters help secure the first set victory for Cornerstone.

Second Set: Cornerstone – 25 Michigan-Dearborn – 17

CU went on a seven-point run to start the second set highlighted by a block by Gabby VerBerkmoes and Aubrey Johnson.
Cornerstone went ahead 13-7 with a kill from Anastacia Trevino.
The Golden Eagles grew their lead to 16-9 with kills from Gabby VerBerkmoes, Aubrey Johnson and Josilyn Potter.
Josilyn Potter closed out the second set with a kill to give CU a 2-0 lead in the match.

Third Set: Cornerstone – 25 Michigan-Dearborn – 19

Cornerstone went up 6-2 to begin the third set with two service aces from Aubrey Johnson.
Michigan-Dearborn tied it up at seven going on a four-point run.
The Golden Eagles responded with an eight-point run of their own highlighted by five kills from Gwyn VerBerkmoes giving CU a 15-8 lead.
Aubrey Johnson added a pair of kills with her third service ace of the night to extend the Cornerstone lead to 21-15.
Emmalee Murphy secured the three-set win with two kills giving Cornerstone their fifth straight sweep.
