Southfield, Mich. – Women's Basketball made the short trip to Lawrence Tech University to take on the Blue Devils. Cornerstone held a five-point lead 20-15 at the end of the first quarter of play, thanks to more success from the free-throw line. Jaxi Long put up six points at the end of the second quarter to highlight the period as Cornerstone remained in the lead at halftime 44-32. The third quarter saw lots of movement on the scoreboard as the Golden Eagles saw their way to a 14-point lead but the Blue Devils made a late run to cut it back down to just nine. The Golden Eagles finished the third quarter still with a firm grasp on the game 62-49. As the final quarter drew to its close, the Blue Devils put together a final run of six points but Cornerstone had put it out of reach. The Golden Eagles took the win in dominant fashion 80-64. The Golden Eagles will take a 12-day break before heading to Rio Grande, Ohio where they will play against the University of Rio Grande on December 29 at 4 p.m., followed by a matchup the very next day against the College of Coastal Georgia at 12 p.m.

First Quarter

The first points of the game came off the shooting hands of Abby Hall who laid down the three-pointer to make it 3-0 Cornerstone.

The Golden Eagles grabbed a five-point 10-5 lead early on thanks to a mid-ranged jumper by Jaxi Long.

The free-throws continue to prove pivotal for Cornerstone as two by Gracie Gortmaker finished out the first quarter with the Golden Eagles on top 20-15.

Second Quarter

Jaxi Long opened up the second quarter with another good jump-shot to give Cornerstone a seven-point lead 22-15.

Jaxi Long ended a minute and a half-long scoring drought for both teams with a smooth three-pointer off the pass by Gracie Gortmaker to build the Golden Eagle lead to 10-point 27-17.

An eleven-point lead, 31-20, came off of two free-throws by Laura Innerebner with about six minutes left to play in the half.

Another three-pointer by Abby Hall with about five minutes left in the quarter kept Cornerstone in a strong lead 34-22.

A Jaxi Long six-point run finished out the half as Cornerstone still held the lead 44-32.

Third Quarter

The lid of the bucket was blown off by Jaxi Long to begin the third quarter for Cornerstone. The twelve-point lead was still in favor of the Golden Eagles 46-34.

Julie Ashbaugh's sixth point of the night came with just under six minutes left to go in the third quarter as Cornerstone kept a 14-point lead 51-37.

Another big three-pointer by Jaxi Long with about three minutes left to go in the third quarter made it 58-43 for the Golden Eagles!

The Blue Devils cut the Cornerstone lead to just nine with 56 seconds to go, as they looked to make a push to end the third quarter.

The tip-in play by Abby Hall canceled the Blue Devil run to keep Cornerstone up 60-49, forcing Lawrence Tech into a 30 second timeout.

The third quarter ended with a six-seconds-left effort by Jaxi Long, which saw Cornerstone maintain a thirteen-point lead 62-49.

Fourth Quarter

The first points of the final period came about 58 seconds after the opening whistle. Gracie Gortmaker made her eighth point of the night to make it 64-49 for Cornerstone.

Another double-digit point game for Julie Ashbaugh as her tenth point falls through the hoop building the lead even further 66-52.

A good three-pointer by Gracie Gortmaker meant Cornerstone's lead was at the highest point so far 73-52.

With about two minutes left to go in regulation, Gracie Gortmaker hit two more free throws in an attempt to put the game out of reach of the Blue Devils. Cornerstone led 79-58.

A late six-point run by Lawrence Tech sought to bring the game back in reach for the Blue Devils, but with 22 seconds left Kaila Aston hit the final point of the game from the charity mark to end it 80-64 for Cornerstone!
