Men's Basketball heads back to the WHAC Championship after a dominant victory over UNOH

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Basketball looked to return to the WHAC Championship game as they took on UNOH in the WHAC Semifinal Round. The Golden Eagles won in dominating fashion 117-82 behind Luke Rowlinson's season high 30 points. It was just Cornerstone's day as they shot 60% from the field, making 16 threes as UNOH had no answer to the Golden Eagle offense. They will now look to make it back-to-back as they return to the WHAC Championship game to take on Indiana Tech on Tuesday, March 4 with tipoff at 7 p.m.
 
Game Recap – Cornerstone – 117 UNOH - 82
 
First Half: Cornerstone – 59 UNOH – 38
  • Blake Stewart drove to the rim and scored back-to-back easy layups for the Golden Eagles as they lead 6-3.
  • Luke Rowlinson would drill the first Golden Eagle three and Jack Joldersma would follow with a layup to make it an 11-6 Cornerstone advantage through the first two minutes of action.
  • A quick 6-0 Cornerstone run saw them extend their lead to double digits over UNOH 17-6 as the first media timeout comes about.
  • UNOH has continued to keep it around the 10-point deficit mark as their dunk made it 25-16 with 12:40 left.
  • It started raining threes for both teams as after UNOH would make one, Luke Rowlinson and Kayden Bird would respond with a pair of their own to make it 33-22 Cornerstone.
  • It continued to be a shootout between both teams as the five-minute media timeout came about, the Golden Eagles lead UNOH 40-31.
  • An 8-0 run powered by six Blake Stewart points helped Cornerstone extend their 48-31 with 4:04 left.
  • It continued to be the Blake Stewart show as he would slam one home on an UNOH defender to make it 55-34 forcing the Racers to call a timeout. All the momentum is on the Golden Eagles side.
  • After a two-minute cold stretch, Mason Brooks would drill a step back three before the halftime buzzer to help the Golden Eagles head in halftime with a 59-38 lead.
  • Cornerstone has been lights out through the first 20-minutes of action as they have shot 64.1% from the floor with UNOH at just 36.4% with seven turnovers.
 
Second Half: Cornerstone – 117 UNOH – 82
  • Toby Woolcock drilled a wing three and then Luke Rowlinson followed with a pullup jumper to make it 64-42 Cornerstone.
  • Mason Brooks and Blake Stewart scored five straight for the Golden Eagles as it continued to be an offensive show as they now lead 72-47 with 13 minutes left in the second half.
  • The Golden Eagles are 10 minutes away from a WHAC Semifinal victory over UNOH as they layup from Jack Joldersma made it 80-61.
  • Luke Rowlinson has been unconscious for the Golden Eagles as he scored the last 14 points in a two-minute stretch in which he made four straight threes to extend Cornerstones lead 97-68 with 6:30 left in the game.   
  • Cornerstone hit the century mark with five minutes left in the game as they continue to lead big over UNOH 101-70.
  • One more for good measure, Luke Rowlinson and Kayden Bird hit back-to-back threes to make it 110-77 with three minutes left.
  • Tre Seydel and Levi Schultz got in on the action as the Golden Eagles dominate UNOH in a 117-82 victory.
