Last Week Recap
Men's Volleyball traveled to Arizona for spring break to take on some West Coast teams for some nonconference action. They first played #10 Benedictine Mesa, falling 3-0 for the first time this year. It didn't look the Golden Eagles we know as they struggled to hit as they hit just .184 for the match while Mesa took control of their struggling offense and defense to a .411 hitting percentage. They would then look to rebound against OUAZ and struggled once again to their second straight 3-0 sweep where the Golden Eagles just didn't look themselves.
They are now back in Michigan where they look to regroup and hopefully feel refreshed for the second half of the season.
Looking at Goshen
Goshen comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 4-13 (1-6) on the year. The Maple Leafs are currently riding a seven-game losing streak, struggling in conference play. On the year, Goshen is averaging 10.1 kills while hitting .181. They are also averaging 8.1 digs and 1.9 blocks per-set. They are led by Ben Koop and his 209 kills while being set by Igor Sapucaia and Avery Laforce.
Looking at Governors State
Governors State comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 17-6. Men's Volleyball got the best of the Jaguars earlier in the season 3-1 at Cornerstone. Governors State was playing well before traveling to Florida dropping both of their contests. On the year, they are averaging 11.67 kills per-set while hitting .218. They are also averaging 9.80 digs and 1.80 blocks per-set on defense. The Jaguars are led by Diego Antunez and Daniel Lopez and their 248 and 224 kills on the year while being set by Lucas Lapa.
Looking at Jamestown
Jamestown comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 4-14. After opening the season with an upset victory over #14 Campbellsville, the Jimmies have struggled, dropping their last six matches before the matchup against Cornerstone. They are averaging 11.9 kills per-set while hitting .209. They are also averaging 9.1 digs and 1.7 blocks per-set on defense. They are led by Tomasz Swiderski and his 209 kills while being set by Gabriel Ocasio.
