Voloch hits a milestone as Men's Volleyball sweeps Goshen

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Volleyball played their final regular season home game against Goshen and came away with another 3-0 sweep. The serves were on today for the Golden Eagles as they collected 15 service aces, eight of those coming from Ernest Broaster in the sweep. Joshua Beaumont led the Golden Eagles will 11 kills while setter Patrick Voloch dished out 35 assists, surpassing 4,000 in his career in the victory. Men's Volleyball is now 21-6 (12-2) on the year as they will head to Siena Heights on Friday, April 11 for their next conference matchup.
 
Game Recap – #10 Cornerstone – 3 Goshen – 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-14)
 
First Set: Cornerstone – 25 Goshen – 17
  • Cornerstone opened on a 3-0 run thanks to service aces from Patrick Voloch and a solo bock from Ernest Broaster.
  • It continued to be all Cornerstone early as a service ace from Ernest Broaster and kills from Andrew Galanes and David Galanes made it 8-1 as Goshen called a timeout.
  • David Galanes recorded a kill and Hubert Sliwinski and Patrick Voloch recorded a block to make it 12-5 Cornerstone.
  • Four straight errors from the Golden Eagles helped Goshen make it a 12-9 game.
  • Ernest Broaster would record an ace and a kill to extend Cornerstone's lead 18-11 late in the first set.
  • Cornerstone would go on to win the first set 25-17 over Goshen thanks to a final set service error by the Maple Leafs.
 
Second Set: Cornerstone – 25 Goshen – 15  
Third Set: Cornerstone – 25 Goshen – 14
  • A kill off the hand of Matthew True gave Cornerstone and early 3-2 lead.
  • The run continued for the Golden Eagles as a service ace from Kyi Jagorin and a solo block from Ethan Walker made it 8-2.
  • A long rally resulted in a Joshua Beaumont kill as the Golden Eagles would extend their lead 15-7 over Goshen.
  • The kills kept piling up as one from Andrew Galanes and another from Joshua Beaumont made it 19-9 Cornerstone.
  • A Brunno Peres service ace made it a 22-14 Cornerstone lead late in the third set.
  • Brunno Peres would end the set himself with back-to-back aces to give Cornerstone the 25-14 third set victory.
