Grand Rapids, Mich. – Women's Soccer comes up shy against the Pilots after conceding two first half goals. The ladies simply could not get their offense to stick against a stout Bethel defense. The Golden Eagles will look to bounce back fast as they prepare for their next match on Friday, September 12 against Taylor University at 7:00 p.m.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 0 Bethel – 2
First Half:
- The first half belonged to the Pilots as they came out with a flurry of shots but could not find the back of the net early.
- Bethel found the breakthrough at the 25-minute mark as their strong possession began to pay off.
- It only took two minutes for the Pilots to double their lead as they cruised to a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute.
- Gracie Gortmaker and Madie Smith both forced saves to close out the first half, but they could not find a goal as the Golden Eagles had a lot to think over at the break.
Second Half:
- The second half started similar for both squads as Bethel jumped out on the front foot finding an early corner kick.
- Corinne McGlassion was called on many times in the half as she continued to hold strong to start the second period.
- Brooke Harmsen provided some strong deliveries into the box but still Cornerstone could not break through.
- The first half goals from Bethel told the story as the Golden Eagles dropped the game 2-0 to the Pilots.
