Woman’s Soccer Suffers Tough Road Loss against #RV Taylor University

Upland, Ind.. – Women's soccer traveled down the Indiana to take on the #RV Taylor University Trojans who came out swinging. The Trojans put up 3 first half goals to grab a dominant lead. Cornerstone came into the second half with a strong resolve and put one in the back of the net thanks to a shot from Madeline Billings that was a success, but Taylor University held strong and saw themselves to a dominant win 9-1. The Golden Eagles' next match will be Wednesday, September 17th at home against #10 Spring Arbor University at 6 p.m.

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 1 Taylor University – 9

First Half:

  • The first goal of the game for the Trojans came within the 1st minute of play to give them the lead 1-0.

  • Cornerstone's defense was under a lot of pressure all night as another goal went in for the Trojans in the 14th minute of play to make the score 2-0.

  • Taylor would end the half in the lead 3-0 as they put away another shot in the 26th minute.

Second Half:

  • Cornerstone fought hard for the first 10 minutes of the second half, which proved to be successful as Madeline Billings put her shot into the back of the net to narrow the gap between the two sides.

  • Two goals in the 61st and 63rd minute helped Taylor University build their lead 5-1 nearing the end of the match.

  • The Trojans did not let up on the Golden Eagles as they continued the offensive pressure. Goals in the 72nd and the 77th minute added to Taylor University's lead, as they continued to hold the game in a strong grasp 7-1.

  • The match would finish with Cornerstone falling to a strong Taylor University side 9-1.
