Dearborn, Mich. – Women's Basketball headed across Michigan to take on the Wolverines of the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The first half closed out with the Wolverines on top of the Golden Eagles 36-27. Cornerstone was able to keep UM-Dearborn to just 17 total points in the second half while putting up 39 of their own, thanks to a much stronger field goal rate of 44.6%, to turn around the game for a win 66-53! Cornerstone finish out the week against #22 Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday the 10th, at 3 p.m. EST.

Laura Innerebner put up the first layup of the game for Cornerstone inside the opening 15 seconds of play to make it 2-0.

A successful layup by Gracie Gortmaker pushed Cornerstone to retake the lead in the first quarter 7-5.

The first three pointer of the game for the Golden Eagles came off of the hands of Gracie Gortmaker, Cornerstone gained a four-point lead 10-6.

Cornerstone finished out the first quarter on top of the Wolverines 19-16.

Second Quarter

The beginning of the second period saw the Wolverines tie the game back up 19-19 before a nice jump shot by Maddie Schuur inched Cornerstone back in front 21-19.

A nine point run for UM-Dearborn saw their team to a seven point lead about halfway through the second quarter 28-21.

Cornerstone were held to just six more points before the end of the first half as the Wolverines held the lead by nine points 36-27.

Third Quarter

Maddie Schuur got the Cornerstone bend riled up with a big three pointer to bring the Golden Eagles within five of their opponents to begin the second half.

The tip in play by Julie Ashbaugh saw Cornerstone tie the game back up 39-39 with about three and a half minutes to go in the third quarter.

Two good free throws from Gracie Gortmaker helped the Golden Eagles overtake the Wolverines with just about three minutes to go 41-39.

The free throw by Julie Ashbaugh tied up the game at the end of the third quarter 45-45, where Cornerstone held the Wolverines to just nine points.

Fourth Quarter

Out of the gate, Laura Innerebner hit the jump shot to get Cornerstone back on top 47-45.

Two missed offensive opportunities for the Wolverines handed the ball back into the hands of Laura Innerebner who sunk another two points onto the board to make it 49-45 for Cornerstone.

Two more layups in a row from Innerebner built Cornerstone to a five-point lead with about six and a half minutes left in regulation.

Jaxi Long hit another three pointer to extend the lead to six for the Golden Eagles 58-52.

Julie Ashbaugh's jumper and a layup from Gracie Gortmaker sealed the deal for Cornerstone as they held the Wolverines to just eight points in the final quarter and put up 21 of their own to win 66-53.
By the Numbers
16/8 – Shooting 80% from the field was Laura Innerebner, who led the way for the Golden Eagles with 16 points on the night and grabbed eight rebounds for Cornerstone.
15/50% – Gracie Gortmaker hit 15 points in total while shooting 50% from the three-point line.
12/9 – Just missing out on another double-double performance was Jaxi Long, who put up 12 points for her side and totaled nine rebounds for the Golden Eagles.
