Stuart Stovall Becomes First Male Track & Field Athlete to Win Two National Titles

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Men's Track and Field headed out for the third and final day of competition at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships on Friday, May 22 at the Karl Straus Track.

The first event of the day for the Men's team was the discus, where Stuart Zachariah Stovall and Alexander Pranger both stepped up for Cornerstone as the 1st and 4th seed respectively. Alexander Pranger held the top spot in the event going into the finals with a throw of 52.25m, and Stuart Zachariah Stovall sat in 9th with a throw of 47.45m. 

The finals saw Alexander Pranger drop down to second place, and Stovall had one final throw left. Despite the rain on the ground, Stovall was able to catapult his way to first with a final throw of 55.75m. Alexander Pranger reclaimed the second spot with his final throw of 53.47m.

The Pole Vault was the final event for the Men's team, with Isaac Bowden competing for the Golden Eagles. After making the initial 4.65m mark on his second attempt, Bowden sized up the 4.80m jump ahead of him. Though his first two attempts of three were missed opportunities, he made the third and final attempt and held the fourth spot, earning All-American Honors and a 4th place, podium finish!

The Men's team finished 6th overall with a point total of 39, the highest point total by their program so far, finishing out the postseason, sending home four All-Americans and two National Champions from the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.

Men's Discus
Stuart Stovall – 55.75m (National Champion, NAIA All-American)
Alexander Pranger – 53.47m (National Runner-Up, NAIA All-American)

Men's Pole Vault
Isaac Bowden – 4.80m (4th in Event, NAIA All-American)

Men's Track and Field finished out the postseason, sending home four All-Americans and two National Champions from the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.
