Grand Rapids, Mich. – Women's soccer kicked off the 2026 season with a bang as they netted 6 goals in a clean-sheet victory over the Jaguars of Governor State University. A pair of goals from the freshman forward Mady Teffner in the 49th and 52nd minute put Cornerstone far out-of-reach of the Jaguars and finished out the first home game of the season 6-0. The Golden Eagles' next match will take place on the road on August 26th at 7 p.m. in Goshen, Ind. against the Goshen College Maple Leafs.

First Half:

With five freshman starters in the contest, the game got going right away for Cornerstone as Sammi Beller knocked the first goal of the day in for Cornerstone to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0.

Sydney Elders got past her defenders in the third minute but was denied by the goalkeeper, which kept the score 1-0.

The Golden Eagles continued knocking on the door as the second goal came in the 13th minute off the foot of Brooke Harmsen, as Cornerstone set the tone 2-0.

The Jaguars could not hold off the Cornerstone attack, as the third and final goal of the first half came from Jada VanNoord off of a wonderful play by Madeline Billings. The Golden Eagles led at the end of the first 45 minutes 3-0.
Second Half:

The second half was a similar story for Cornerstone, as Mady Teffner kept the crowd cheering with a goal in the 49th minute. Cornerstone remained on top 4-0.

Mady Teffner was not finished yet, as she broke through her defender to net a fifth goal for Cornerstone in the 52nd minute.

The final goal of the contest was the final nail in the coffin, as Maddie Mater rounded out a fantastic midfield performance with a goal of her own. The Golden Eagles completed the home victory 6-0.
