GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone picked up a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Governors State and IU-South Bend on Friday night as they improve to 20-7 on the season. The two wins come in the annual ACC Tournament which is being co-hosted by Aquinas College. CU will return to action on Saturday at 10 a.m. when they face Saint Francis (Ind.) and finish the day at 1 p.m. against Saint Xavier (Ill.).
Match 1 – Cornerstone 3, Governors State – 25-18, 26-24, 25-20
Cornerstone controlled the play from start to finish over the Jaguars who are in just their 2
nd year as a varsity program. CU's offense hit just .183 on the night but a stout defense limited the Jaguars to .102.
Heather Green led the attack for the Golden Eagles with 13 kills while
Ellie Van Laar had 10 and
Madison Herrema seven.
Hope Leppink handed out 41 assists while
Mackenzie Vallad had a team-best 19 digs.
Match 2 – Cornerstone 3, IU-South Bend – 25-17, 25-23, 25-17
The defense continued its strong play in the second match of the day as the Golden Eagles posted 10.0 team blocks led by five each from
Ellie Van Laar,
Kendra Zwart and
Heather Green. CU held the Titans to a .089 hitting percentage in the 3-set win.
Kenzie Engelsma had a team high 10 kills while
Kendra Zwart had nine and Van Laar eight.

- Cornerstone has now won 10 matches in a row
- The Golden Eagles have won at least 20 matches in six consecutive years
- CU has won 42 consecutive sets in the ACC Tournament
