GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone volleyball team picked up their eleventh and twelfth consecutive wins as they captured the ACC Tournament title on Saturday afternoon. CU defeated Saint Francis (Ind.) 3-1 in the morning match and finished the day with a sweep of Saint Xavier (Ill.). The Golden Eagles, now 22-7 overall, will travel to Aquinas on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match.
Match 1 – Cornerstone 3, Saint Francis (Ind.) 1 – 22-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-22
The Cougars jumped ahead 1-0 in the match as they made it difficult to get any offense going in the opening set but it was all Golden Eagles after that as CU won the final three sets 25-15, 25-16, 25-22.
CU had a pair of big matches offensively as
Kendra Zwart posted 22 kills while
Heather Green was right on her heels with 21.
Hope Leppink dished out 43 assists while
Mackenzie Vallad had 21 digs.
Match 2 – Cornerstone 3, Saint Xavier (Ill.) 0 – 25-14, 25-15, 25-22
Cornerstone avenged an earlier season loss as they coasted to a 3-0 win over their second "Cougars" foe of the day. CU hit .278 in the match compared to only .095 from Saint Xavier. The Golden Eagles never trailed in the opening two sets and overcame an 8-7 deficit in the third to post their 12
th straight win overall.
CU was led by 10 kills from Zwart and 10 from Madion Herrema while the defense posted 16 total blocks.

Cornerstone will resume conference play next Wednesday when they face Aquinas on the road at 7 p.m.
