GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone posted a non-conference win over Great Lakes Christian to start the day and finished it with a similar sweep of WHAC-foe Marygrove to improve to 25-7 overall on the year and 11-1 in the WHAC. The Golden Eagles will remain at home on Saturday when they welcome Lawrence Tech for a league match at 1 p.m.
Match 1 – Cornerstone 3, Great Lakes Christian 0 – 25-5, 25-3, 25-5
The Golden Eagles limited the Lakes to just 13 total points in three sets as they hit .618 as a team and posted 19 service aces. Of the 13 points allowed, CU had three attack errors and four service errors.
Abby Carlson led the way with a career high 13 kills while
Madison Herrema had nine aces. Carlson was also the team leader with nine digs.
Match 2 – Cornerstone 3, Marygrove 0 – 25-20, 25-16, 25-17
Cornerstone picked up their 15
th straight win and improved to 11-1 in the WHAC with a sweep of the Mustangs. Seeing many different people play, CU was led by 12 kills from
Ellie Van Laar and 11 from
Kendra Zwart.
Hope Leppink had 36 assists while
Madison Herrema and
Mackenzie Vallad had 13 digs each.
