GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –
Regan Billings scored twice to lead Cornerstone to a mid-week victory over Concordia. The pair of second half goals helped the Golden Eagles get back into the win column as they now stand at 6-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the WHAC. CU will host Indiana Tech on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Game Flow
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening half as Cornerstone outshot the Cardinals 9-3 with four of those coming on goal.
Dary DeWalt made three saves in net for the Golden Eagles to keep the match scoreless after 45 minutes.
CU then finally broke through in the 68' when
Regan Billings took a pass from
Eric Hamilton and he put it away from the top of the box to put CU up 1-0. Billings would strike again just 4:16 later when
Kyle Doornbos had a throw in deep in the CUAA zone and Billings headed one in off a header pass from
Allyn Anthony.
DeWalt would finish the night with two more saves in the second half for his first career shutout in a CU uniform.
