Concordia rallies to defeat Baseball in extra innings

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Cornerstone looked to end a two-game losing skid and had the host Cardinals on the rope twice but four runs in the bottom of the ninth and then one each in the eleventh and twelfth gave CUAA an 11-10 come from behind win. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 3-3 on the season as they will play a doubleheader against the Cardinals on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Game Flow

The Golden Eagles got off to another fast start as they brought across four runs in the top of the first as Jonny Abbadusky scored on a passed ball and three more came in on a Chris O'Neill Jr. homerun. CUAA struck back with two in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead in half at 4-2.

With the score 6-5 entering the ninth, CU padded their lead with a 3-spot on a 2-RBI double from O'Neill and a sac fly from Jon Stewart. Just three outs away from a nice road win, CU was unable to come away with the win as Concordia hit a grand slam to send the game into extra innings.

Cornerstone then took a 10-9 lead in the eleventh on a solo home run from Joe Corsten but again, CU could not hold onto the lead as Concordia scored once in the eleventh and once again in the twelfth to walk off with the 11-10 win.
