HUNTINGTON, Ind. –
Cory Cox connected on a career-high nine 3-pointers and finished with 33 points to lead the No. 8 ranked men's basketball team to an 86-74 win over the College of the Ozarks at the Ness Bros. Hall of Fame Tourney, hosted by Huntington University. The victory lifts the Golden Eagles to 3-1 on the year as they will face Huntington, who defeated Great Lakes Christian 101-60, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Game Flow
Cornerstone jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead on the Bobcats and slowly increased the margin as the first half played on, leading by as many as 14 (42-28). That lead came off the heels of a 13-4 run that took almost three minutes of game clock finished off by a layup from
Riley Costen. CU would allow the Bobcats to creep a little closer as the first half closed with the Golden Eagles leading 48-37.
The Bobcats used that late run in the first and cut the lead to as little as four (70-66) in the second but behind
Cory Cox and
Kyle Steigenga, the Golden Eagles were too much for Ozarks, winning by 11.
