SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Cornerstone Volleyball team was 9-0 in five set matches throughout the season so far and today they made it 10-0 with a thrilling win over No. 24 Madonna to advance to Saturday's WHAC Tournament Championship match. The 25-17, 26-24, 19-25, 15-25, 15-10 win is the 24
th straight for the Golden Eagles which also clinches a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. CU will face either No. 10 Lourdes or Davenport tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Match Flow…
Cornerstone came out red hot in the opening set as their defense (27 digs) and blocking (4.0 team blocks) helped team build as big a lead as 17-7 in route to a 25-17 win. The second set was back and forth with 12 ties and four lead changes but CU built a 20-16 with four straight points to force a Madonna timeout. The Crusaders roared back with four of their own to tie it up but CU scored six of the final eight including set-winning kill from
Heather Green to win 26-24.
Sets three and four were a completely different story as the Crusaders controlled every facet of play taking the third 25-19 and the fourth 25-15 to send the match into a fifth and deciding set.
Cornerstone, which entered the night 9-0 all season in 5-set matches, got off to a great start by scoring six of the first eight points to force an MU timeout. That lead grew to 12-3 after CU posted three straight blocks and the Golden Eagles held off a late Crusader rally to win 15-10.

Cornerstone, which earns a bid to the NAIA National Tournament that starts on November 19, advances to the WHAC Tournament Championship match for the first time since 2007. They will play either Lourdes or Davenport Saturday at 1 p.m.
