Match Flow…

Cornerstone came out red hot in the opening set as they used an 9-point run behind the strong serving of Kenzie Engelsma to turn an 8-7 deficit into a 16-8 lead. That lead stayed the same at 20-12 but the Saints roared back with nine straight points to take a 21-20 lead in which they went on to win 25-22.

Set two was tight throughout and after the 13th tie made it 21-21, Cornerstone used a 4-0 run behind three kills from Heather Green and Ellie Van Laar and an error from SHU to close out the 25-21 win. The third set was close again with CU falling behind by as many as five (8-3) only to rally to take a 22-18 lead. After a SHU timeout, the Saints scored four straight of their own to knot it at 22 but CU scored four of the last six with the final point coming from a Madison Herrema kill to win 26-24.

Set four was dominated by the Golden Eagles from start to finish as they made quick work thanks to an offense that hit .323 and a defense that limited the Saints to a -.027 hitting %.
