Men’s Soccer gets third consecutive victory with 2-1 win over PNW

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles defeated Purdue Northwest for their third consecutive victory, bringing their overall record to an even 3-3. The Pride found the back of the net early, but Cornerstone responded with two goals later in the first half. The team will hit the road on Wednesday to face Robert Morris at 7:00 p.m.

Game Flow
Purdue Northwest's lone goal came less than six minutes into regulation when Tulio Ribeiro found the back of the net on a one-on-one with CU goalkeeper Tyler Waterway. Kevin Doornbos evened the score twelve minutes later after slamming home a rebound off a Josue Uquillas shot that hit the right post. With thirteen minutes to go in the first half, Eric Hamilton sent a free kick from midfield into PNW's box. The ball deflected off a defender's head and soared into the back of the net making the score 2-1.

The Pride outshot the Golden Eagles 5-4 in the second half but neither team scored, resulting in a final of 2-1 in favor of CU.
