LIVONIA, Mich. –
Kendra Zwart finished out an outstanding week earning All-Tournament honors as she helped the volleyball team post a 1-1 record on the final day of the Julie Martin Memorial hosted by Madonna. Cornerstone fell to No. 5 Viterbo before defeating Western Ontario. CU is now 7-6 on the year and they will host Aquinas on Wednesday in their home opener.
Match 1 – #5 Viterbo 3, Cornerstone 0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-7)
Viterbo, one of the top teams in the country, made their presence known with their highest hitting percentage in a single match this season (.319). The V-Hawks, who only dropped one set all weekend at the tourney at Madonna, won 25-15, 25-19, 25-7.
Cornerstone was led by four kills from
Heather Green and
Madison Herrema while
Kendra Zwart had three blocks.
Match 2 – Cornerstone 3, Western Ontario 0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-16)
The Golden Eagles finished the weekend with a balanced effort to defeat the Mustangs. Alex Ploakovich led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills while Zwart joined her in double-digits with 10.
Cornerstone had nine service aces as Mara Ma had four herself while
Hope Leppink finished with 33 assists and four digs.

Cornerstone will get back to conference action next week as they will welcome Aquinas College to Mol Arena for their home opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
