LIMA, Ohio. – Junior outside hitter
Heather Green and her companion, freshman
Madison Herrema, recorded career highs in kills as they led the Golden Eagles to a 5-set win at Northwestern Ohio on Friday night. The duo combined for 38 kills as they helped CU improve to 9-6 overall and 3-0 in the WHAC. Cornerstone remains on the road to face Indiana Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Match Flow…
The first two sets were identical with each the Golden Eagles and Racers winning by 25-23 scores. UNOH then took a leg up in the match as they recorded a 25-21 win in the third only to see CU dominate the fourth (25-13) to send it to a fifth set.
Cornerstone raced out to a 5-1 lead in the deciding set highlighted by three straight kills from
Heather Green and one from
Alex Polakovich which forced the Racers into a timeout. UNOH then scored the next seven points to take an 8-5 lead at the side-switch but CU came back with their own run, this one a 9-5 one which set up match point but CU then had two service errors with a chance to put away the match.
The Golden Eagles finally put the Racers away after two straight points on a block from
Kendra Zwart and
Hope Leppink as well as a
Heather Green termination.

Cornerstone will be on the road again tomorrow as they face Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
