Flynn nets 2-OT winner for men’s soccer at Trinity International

DEERFIELD, Ill.. – Cornerstone jumped out to a 2-0 lead only to see the host Trojans score the equalizer with under one minute to play in regulation to force OT. Gareth Flynn then came through with the winning tally in the 107' to push CU to a 3-2 win. Cornerstone is now 2-3 on the year as they will resume play September 10 at home vs Purdue Northwest at 2 p.m.

Game Flow

The Golden Eagles used their momentum from the 2-1 win on Wednesday and jumped all over Trinity International in the opening 25 minutes as Kevin Doornbos scored in the 4' and Allyn Anthony in the 24'. That score held until halftime as CU outshot the Trojans 6-5 in the opening 45.

Trinity International then cut the margin in half in the 69' and when it looked as if CU would post their second straight 2-1 win, the home team converted with just 29 seconds to play to send the match into OT.

After a scoreless first 10 minutes, Gareth Flynn got the game winner in the 107'.
