GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone faced off against Northwestern in a hard-fought, crucial conference match on Saturday evening. UNOH obtained red cards in the 19^th and 70^th minutes, making them shorthanded for the majority of the match. The lone goal came from Richard Areche in the 34^th minute, his fourth of the year. Cornerstone improves to 4-7-3 overall, 3-4-2 in the WHAC. The Golden Eagles will face off against another 'receiving votes' team in Aquinas on Wednesday.

A red card in the 19^th minute gave the Golden Eagles a crucial advantage. Cornerstone capitalized on a free kick to take a 1-0 lead in the 34^th minute. David Mutembezi lofted the ball into the box, James Pipe redirected it with a header, and Richard Areche headed it into the back of the net. UNOH played with extra intensity in the second half, and had several scoring chances, but a second red card late in the match stifled the comeback attempt, as it gave Cornerstone a two-man advantage for the remainder of the match.
