GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles held No. 11 Indiana Tech to just 64 points on 32.8% shooting to earn a huge 71-64 upset win. CU tallied a full team effort, and was phenomenal from the free throw line, going 19-20 in the win. Cornerstone is now 5-6, 3-1 WHAC on the year as they will get set to head to Ohio for a game at Lourdes on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Game Flow
The Golden Eagles stifled the No. 11 Indiana Tech Warriors early, holding them to just 18.8% shooting from the field in the first quarter to take a 19-11 lead. The Warriors began to find their stride in the second, battling back to tie the game at 23. Both teams then traded buckets heading toward the half, until
Lizzy Otten and
Taryn Sack hit four consecutive free throws to go up 36-33 at halftime.
CU then built their largest lead of the game at 14, thanks to a 12-0 run that saw five straight points from junior
Jesse Sheridan. Indiana Tech battled back to cut the Cornerstone lead to just five in the fourth, but the Golden Eagle defense and free throw shooting continued to shine throughout the game to come out with a 71-64 upset win.
