GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The regular season came to an end on Saturday afternoon, as CU suffered a 60-45 loss to Northwestern Ohio on senior day. Despite the loss, sophomore guard
Jesse Sheridan hit 11 points on the nose to become the quickest CU player to ever reach 1,000 career points. Cornerstone has now concluded the season at 14-16, 11-11 WHAC as they will enter conference tournament quarterfinal action on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Game Flow
Shooting struggles were the story of the first half, as CU could not get anything going on the offensive end going just 23.3% from the field (7-30). Despite the shooting percentage, Cornerstone managed to battle back and fourth all half with the Racers as neither team held a lead larger than five points in the period. A last second three by UNOH's Danielle VanDyne resulted in a 27-22 deficit at the break for the Golden Eagles.
The Racers came out strong in the second half building on their five point lead throughout the third quarter, and again a late three by VanDyne proved costly for CU resulting in an 11 point deficit at the end of the period. Cornerstone again was under 35% shooting in the fourth quarter, which allowed UNOH to push their lead to a game high 17 points, on their way to a 60-45 victory.
