WINTERHAVEN, Fla. – The Golden Eagles three game winning streak was snapped, as Judson downed Cornerstone in a double-header on Monday afternoon. CU was unable to rally against the receiving votes Eagles, falling 6-5 in game one and 8-4 in game two. Cornerstone is now 7-11 on the year, as they will return to Lake Myrtle tomorrow at 2:30 to face another CCAC opponent in Trinity Christian.
Game Flow
Game 1 – The Golden Eagles were able to get off to an early four run lead, scoring four in the second inning on a
Joe Corsten RBI single and a
Jon Stewart 3 RBI triple. Judson was able to respond in the bottom of the inning after an error kept the inning alive and a grand slam tied the game at four.
Brett Shure pitched strong throughout, going 5.1 innings and striking out seven, but Judson was able to muster the only two earned runs against Shure in the fifth with back-to-back sacrifice flies that gave JU a 6-4 lead. Quotable…
"I think that we can all agree that we beat ourselves today. We had a lot of opportunities to take over and win both of these games. The good news is, is that these games are meant for us to get better for our conference season so we can learn from our mistakes and improve as we continue." -
Jonny Abbadusky, Outfielder
