DETROIT, Mich. – Cornerstone finished off their second straight series win with an 11-2 triumph over Marygrove today in Detroit. The win lifts the Golden Eagles to 21-24 on the year and 13-12 in league action. CU will play a non-conference game on Wednesday at Spring Arbor before hosting Davenport over the weekend.
Game Flow – Cornerstone struck in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead as
Evan Wagner doubled home
Jonny Abbadusky and then
Seth Reigner singled home Wagner. CU added to their lead in the fourth and sixth innings when
Brady Eeles picked up an RBI single and Wagner picked up two more RBI's that scored Abbadusky and Eeles.
After Marygrove cut the margin to 5-2, CU exploded for four runs in the seventh and finished off the Mustangs with two in the ninth.
Clay Keltner picked up the win on the mound as he improves to 5-2 on the year.
