GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone entered their weekend series taking on the highest ranked team they will face all season and No. 13 UNOH proved it on Friday with a 7-0 shutout of the Golden Eagles. The loss drops CU to 16-21 on the year and 8-9 in the WHAC. The two teams will face off in a pair of 9-inning games on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
Game Flow – The Racers struck first with a pair of runs in the opening frame on CU starter
Kyle Herrick but the sophomore then calmed down and was solid for the next four innings allowing only one more run as he finished with three strikeouts and five hits allowed.
On the opposite side, Damon Procter was nearly unhittable for UNOH as he went all nine innings while striking out 10 and allowing just five hits. The Racers added to their 3-0 lead with single runs in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings and a pair of tallies in the seventh.
Jarod Burton the lone Golden Eagle with a pair of hits while
Jonny Abbadusky, Evan Wagmer and
Aaron Krupansky had one each.
